Workspace

Other tools may bother you with multiple dialogs, questions and popups before you get started. We’d rather not. Just pick your software files, choose your interface, and boom—you’re online.

You can effortlessly add or remove data sources within your current workspace. Switching to a different workspace is just as easy, allowing you to stay organized and flexible without any hassle. It’s all about making your workflow as smooth and seamless as possible.

Supported data sources:

  • XCP-on-CAN (A2L)
  • XCP-on-Ethernet (A2L)
  • CAN/CAN-FD (DBC)
  • CAN/CAN-FD (Raw data)
  • MDF4 (Data Analyzing)

Hardware Compatibility

We support a wide range of hardware interfaces from all
the major manufacturers, so you don’t have to worry about
compatibility headaches.

This includes:

  • Kvaser
  • Vector
  • Peak
  • Etas
  • ZLG

User Interface

This tool features a sleek, modern docked user interface (UI) that offers a high level of flexibility, allowing users to arrange and customize the workspace to suit their personal preferences. The intuitive design makes it easy to organize and manage different sections of the application, ensuring an efficient workflow.

With the ability to use multiple panels, users can effectively separate various areas of their project, enhancing clarity and focus. Additionally, it supports the option to save specific panel configurations and share them with other projects or users, promoting collaboration and consistency across different workspaces.

Each panel is highly versatile and can be further subdivided into distinct panel objects. These objects include a variety of useful tools such as tables, trace windows, oscilloscopes, and note sections, allowing users to tailor their workspace to their specific needs. This modular approach ensures that the tool can adapt to a wide range of tasks and provide an organized, efficient environment for both individual users and collaborative teams.

ECU Calibration

With Apptool, you can perform real-time calibration of your ECU using the XCP protocol, concurrently with data acquisition from the ECU.

All calibration changes—whether increases or decreases—are clearly visualized in the user interface, along with a counter indicating the amount of modifications made.

You can adjust calibration values using keyboard shortcuts in predefined steps, or apply mathematical operations across entire maps or curves for efficient tuning.

Parameters can be calibrated either online, directly in the ECU’s memory, or offline using S19/Hex files. Offline mode enables parameter adjustments without requiring a live connection to the ECU. Once changes are complete, Apptool generates an updated calibration file that can be easily flashed to the ECU using a compatible software download tool—preferably the built-in one.

Calibration Datasets

Quickly and seamlessly download different calibration datasets to the ECU in real time while evaluating various options. With support for multiple calibration pages and checksum calculation, switching between datasets takes only moments.

All calibration changes, or selected parameters, from the ECU’s working page can be effortlessly saved for easy integration into your calibration management system or build process, streamlining your workflow and reducing development time.

Online Measurements

Once online, the tool displays a green connection status to confirm that all data sources are successfully connected. It continuously monitors these connections and will automatically reconnect if necessary.

You can choose how to visualize the data—either in a table view, ideal for scalar values and infrequently changing data, or in a scope view for real-time monitoring of signal behavior over time.

A CAN trace view is also available, providing detailed insight into bus activity.

The ‘Insert Signals’ dialog is thoughtfully designed for efficiency. It allows you to easily add or remove signals, adjust the measurement raster (XCP), and perform advanced variable searches. Simply click to select a parameter, then continue your search without closing the dialog.

Data Recording

During online measurement, the data recorder can be started at any time—either with a single click or via a convenient keyboard shortcut.

Log files are saved in the industry standard MDF4 format from ASAM, ensuring broad compatibility with tools from other vendors.

The tool can log both signal data and raw CAN traffic (configurable), making it ideal for detailed offline analysis.

The save file dialog supports field codes, enabling fast and structured organization of log files directly on your computer.”

Data Analyzing

The oscilloscope functionality is available both during live measurement and offline, offering a comprehensive set of tools for effective data analysis. Signals can be extensively customized—users can separate them into individual plots and adjust visual attributes such as line color, thickness, and markers.

To enhance visibility, selected signals can be highlighted, and dual cursors enable precise measurement and comparison of signal values. For efficient navigation, the scope supports box-zooming, and an optional auto-fit feature allows the Y-axis scale to adjust automatically based on signal range.

Software Download

We have integrated our software download tool into Apptool, which operates using Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS) in accordance with the ISO 14229 standard. It fully supports T-Engineering-developed ECUs and our own T-Classic AUTOSAR platform, and can also be adapted to suit your specific ECUs and software download procedures.
